Prof. Abeer Abbas El-Saharty
Prof. Abeer Abbas El-Saharty is a distinguished figure in the field of marine chemistry and radioactivity, with a notable career spanning several prestigious positions and contributions to academia and environmental stewardship. Currently serving as Professor in the Marine Environment Division at the National Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries (NIOF) in Egypt, Prof. El-Saharty is recognized for her expertise in understanding and mitigating the impacts of marine pollution and radioactivity on aquatic ecosystems.
Her leadership extends beyond academia, as she holds the esteemed position of Vice President of NIOF for Technical Affairs, overseeing critical aspects of the institute’s operations and strategic initiatives. Additionally, she heads the Marine Chemistry Department, where she leads research efforts aimed at advancing our understanding of marine chemistry and its implications for environmental conservation.
Prof. El-Saharty’s commitment to community development and service is evident through her role as the Head of the Social Community Development and Service Committee at NIOF. Through this capacity, she leverages her expertise to foster positive change and sustainable practices within local communities, further enhancing her impact beyond the realm of scientific research.
Prior to her current roles, Prof. El-Saharty served as the Dean of the Alexandria Branch, She has also contributed her expertise to governmental initiatives, serving as a member of the Ministerial Committee on Climate Change in Alexandria Governorate.
Prof. El-Saharty’s areas of specialization include marine radioactivity, water treatment, marine surveys, and aquaculture. Additionally, she has served as a member of the Committee on the Impact of the Tsunami Phenomenon on the Mediterranean Coasts.
