The Vice president of the National Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries; Head of the Marine Geophysics Department; IOCAFRICA Vice-Chair for Group C, Group V expert on the GOOS Steering Committee; Focal point of ISA in Egypt for capacity building; Member of the Advisory Committee established under the Women in Deep-Sea Research (WIDSR) of the UN-ISA for promoting women’s empowerment and leadership in marine scientific research through enhancement of their role and participation in deep-sea research. The director of the Technology Innovation Commercialization Office (NIOF-TICO) and Entrepreneurship Club. The chief scientist for the RV/Salsabil for marine exploration surveys.
Her research studies focus on mapping the seafloor using marine geophysical techniques (Acoustic, Seismic, Gravity, and Magnetic) to prepare seabed classification and bathymetric maps, hydrocarbon exploration, archaeological studies, Tsunami Hazards and coastal resilience studies. She managed many scientific national and international research projects. Participated in many scientific conferences, international training programmes, and expeditions. Editorial board member of many international scientific journals. Published widely and served as a reviewer for MSc and Ph.D. theses. Supervised many MSc and Ph.D. theses. Teaching marine geophysics courses to undergraduate and postgraduate students at the faculty of science, Alexandria University, since 2013.
